Open Call: Apply for an International Residency in Music and Light Art
As part of the Safaryat program (Cultural Exchange and Joint Artistic Production), funded by the Drosos (…) , MedeArts (The City-Artists Network ) invites musicians and visual artists from the region and the world to apply for the upcoming international artistic residency entitled: Music and Light Art.
Through this residency, we seek to allow a group of local and international artists to explore and build a new experience together. We aim to work on joint music production and give visual artists specializing in light art the chance to experiment with light art techniques to develop a new light design.
A light art design reflects the music production and connects them in harmony. We are looking forward to delivering a mutual artistic message by producing one performance that combines music and light art. Throughout this residency, we encourage artists to learn from each other, exchange knowledge and skills and explore different cultures around us. The residency contributes towards strengthening cohesion and understanding, looking at the challenges that our region and the world are facing, and expressing a new version of the future that is taking a new path based on the new realities we live through.
Who are we looking for to participate with us in this residency?
- Passionate musicians interested in mutual learning and artistic exchange, and joint production.
- Young artists interested in building their capacities and skills in the field of modern light art accompanied by specialized visual artists.
- Based on MedeArts strategies related to target groups, the selection committee will give priority to marginalized groups or immigrants, refugees, people with disabilities and Jordanian artists who reside in other governorates far from the capital centralization.
Which countries are eligible to apply for this artistic residency?
The selection committee will give priority to applicants from the Middle East and North Africa region. Applicants residing in any of these countries are eligible to apply regardless of their nationalities. Applicants from Europe can also participate in this residency if they can add an educational value, such as presenting an artistic workshop that could contribute to capacity building and providing a new creative approach to our region. Also, if they can cover some of the costs, such as flight tickets or accommodation during the residency period, which will take place in Jordan.
How many participants will be accepted to participate in the residency?
The final number of participants will be determined later based on the applications we receive. We are looking forward to hosting 10 to 16 participants maximum.
