Organizational Overview

MedeArts (The City-Artists Network Association) is an Arts Development Network in cities and governorates in Jordan that works on improving the role of culture and art inside societies in order to enable it to support social cases, spreading human rights and urging to empower social interaction by means of art & culture. It was established in 2015 by a group of talented and dedicated artists & cultural operators from Jordan.

We focus in MedeArts to support local artists and positively influence the general cultural & art scene, Including promoting the importance of the role of art for expression, change and develop communities, and magnifying the social interaction.

MedeArts aims to create an environment where our members can experiment, research and learn from each other so we can develop visionary artists who will be the creative thinkers of the future. In addition, providing a supportive and vibrant artistic community where creativity can be nurtured while helping artists to understand the art market and the world of the professional artist to enable them to make informed choices within their creative practice.

Position Overview

The Head of Program will be responsible to lead, develop and manage MedeArts programs to achieve the aspirations of the network through program Development, effective coordination, consolidation, technical support and guidance by ensuring a cohesive team spirit and motivation to perform. They manage and ensure resource mobilization, prioritization and allocation, work plan coherence to deliver the organization wide strategy. This role is responsible for working with MedeArts partners and network of artists to foster long-term relationships to successfully deliver our programs strategy.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in the development of strategic plans and budgets for all MedeArts network programs.
  • Provide leadership to the program teams towards achieving the objectives and goals of each program we are delivering
  • Review and ensure alignment of program priorities, strategies and plans to the network wide objectives and mission.
  • Support the management and operational team to lead the development of both strategic and operational plans in accordance with the board of directors.
  • Work closely with the Growth & Development team in developing and maintaining the relationships with the network donors and key stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Growth & Development team to respond to potential funding opportunities.
  • Lead the coordination and communication with any governmental bodies, and work as the first point of contact with the local authorities.
  • Ensure quality implementation of all projects and programs and provide technical and supervision support whenever needed.
  • Ensure reports, learnings and feedback documented by the program team in the most effective way demonstrating value for money.

Qualifications & Required Skills:

  • +5 years of experience in organizational management and leadership.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Demonstrating a strong experience working in the local cultural development sector.
  • Proven track in fundraising and partners communication.
  • Experience in managing funding from a diversity of sources including governments and international community agencies, and private sector donors.
  • Sound knowledge in the cultural and art scene in Jordan, including the key players, policies, activism and scope of work.
  • Excellent English and Arabic language skills (spoken and written)
  • Experience in managing funding from a diversity of sources including governments and aid agencies, private sector donors.
  • Excellent command on MS office and google suite tools.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a one-year consultancy job. Compensation is competitive based on experience and location.

Start Date

The selected candidate should start at the end of September. The selected candidate will have a month to shadow the current head of programs to better understand the scope of work and core tasks.
